Ravintsara, an antiviral aid

Ravintsara is also often referred to as “good leaf.” Native to Madagascar, the plant is known for its mild yet potent antiviral properties. Its Latin name, derived from the words for cinnamon and camphor, already hints at the potency of the essential oil, which is extracted from the leaves of a camphor laurel plant, better known as the camphor tree.

In his book *Aromatherapy*, published by Elsevier, Prof. DDr. Wabner describes
Ravintsara as the most potent antiviral oil. In my opinion, this book is currently the best in the German-speaking world on the use of essential oils. He describes its use as follows: “During flu season, it is recommended to take one drop of the oil every two hours as a preventive measure.”

I put 1–2 drops of oil on the back of my hand, lick it off, and let it sit in my mouth for 10 minutes, gargling with it as well. Most of the time, I then spit the oil out. The most important thing is: Whenever I felt a cold coming on—a sore throat starting, chills, etc.—and I immediately began taking Ravintsara, I was able to prevent the illness from developing. If I waited too long, it took a few days for the sore throat or other cold symptoms to disappear.

Ravintsara  also has the great advantage of being a very mild oil despite its powerful antiviral properties. This makes it suitable for use on children as well.
