The

Power of Eucalyptus

If only we could be koalas! The leaves of the eucalyptus tree contain a concentrated blend of essential oils with powerful antiviral, antibacterial, and anti-inflammatory properties. That’s why we rely on high-quality eucalyptus oil (with an eucalyptol content of over 80%).

Eucalyptus and Its Uses

Antiviral effect

Thanks to its ability to inactivate viruses—as demonstrated by Oleg V. Pyankov et al. as early as 2012 in their study “Inactivation of Airborne Influenza Virus by Tea Tree and Eucalyptus Oils”—aromatherapists rely on eucalyptus oil It is particularly helpful for respiratory infections.

Eucalyptus promotes the expulsion of phlegm when coughing and helps alleviate inflammation. This accelerates the recovery process for bronchitis and pneumonia. In addition, the essential oil from eucalyptus leaves can activate leukocytes, as described by Grassmann et al. (2011). White blood cells are key players in the body’s defense system and are essential for a strong immune system.

Not suitable for babies and toddlers

What is soothing for adults is not intended for toddlers and babies. In this case, we recommend the much milder eucalyptus radiata, which also contains nearly 70% eucalyptol but lacks the aldehydes that can sometimes irritate the mucous membranes. This mild oil works very well for children when applied to the soles of their feet. You can also use our "Baby Breath Easy Oil org." or "Kids Breathe Easy Oil org." these blends are balanced and formulated to suit the child’s age.

Inhale, apply, relax

Anyone who is no longer a toddler can inhale eucalyptus oil, apply it topically, or use it to relax.

For inhalation, you will need:

1 pot of boiling water
3–4 drops of
eucalyptus oil
1 towel
10–15 minutes

Bring the water in the pot to a boil, then remove the pot from the heat. Add 3–4 drops of DrEberhardt eucalyptus oil to the steaming water. Hold your face over the pot and cover your head with a large towel. Make sure no steam escapes from under the towel. Now breathe in deeply and evenly to inhale as much of the evaporating eucalyptus oil as possible. You may feel a slight urge to cough at first, but this usually subsides after a few minutes. You will quickly feel the bronchodilatory, antiviral, and antibacterial effects.

In the aroma lamp

Eucalyptus oil is used in aroma lamps or diffusers to purify the indoor air. For the best fragrance experience, we recommend mixing the eucalyptus oil with a few drops of another oil. Ideal options include: orange sweet oil or mandarin green oil.

Eucalyptus oil is also ideal for bathing, as its active ingredients really come into their own in warm water. They are absorbed through the skin and the lungs.

Rub-ins

To relieve a persistent cough and breathing difficulties, mix a neutral carrier oil (such as jojoba or almond oil) with 2–3 drops of eucalyptus oil and rub it into the chest and back. Then cover the area with a warm cloth.

No matter how you use eucalyptus, you’ll quickly notice that it’s good for your body and helps strengthen it against external threats. Just don’t eat it—we’ll leave that to the koalas.
