Vanilla, as we all know it from the kitchen, is a climber. The plant is cultivated on Madagascar, the Comoro Islands and La Réunion. Fermentation of the dried vanilla beans sets free the typical vanilla fragrance. The essential oil is alcohol-extracted from fermented, dried beans. Dark-brown in color, the essential oil is thicker than honey. Yet, it is easily applied once diluted to 20% in organic alcohol.
